How FC 27 changed the coin economy

This season EA rebuilt much of the reward side of Ultimate Team, and the changes land squarely on coins. Matches pay out more, more of what you win can be sold on, and the coin balance of the average club climbed quickly after launch. For anyone weighing up FC 27 coins, these are the points that count.

Bigger match payouts

EA’s launch notes set FC 27 against last year’s game. Where an FC 26 match typically brought in roughly 500 to 600 coins, Champions and Rivals can now reward several times that, and Squad Battles also pays more. On top of that, each eligible match gives between 15 and 100 Season Points, with a daily ceiling of 850.

A larger share of tradeable rewards

According to EA, far more of the items handed out by Objectives and game modes are now tradeable, and a bigger slice of rewards arrives as coins or tradeable packs. Every pack in the Division Rivals rewards was tradeable from day one. EA’s example of Division 1 upgraded rewards lists 95,000 coins plus a stack of gold player packs, all of which can be sold on the Transfer Market.

Champions is easier to reach

The Champions Finals keep their 15 matches and pay more coins than they did in FC 26. Qualification points now come from Squad Battles as well as Rivals, and the old Division 6 entry requirement has gone. Squad Battles itself carries on with weekly competition, ranks, featured squads you can replay and a Co-Op option.

New SBC scoring and pack sizes

Streamlined SBCsAn FC 27 type of Squad Building Challenge that scores what you hand in by overall rating, rarity and Holographic status rather than by strict puzzle rules. rate a submission on overall rating, rarity and Holographic status, accept duplicates and allow partial hand-ins; since 28 September they work in the Companion App too. Cards in the bronze, silver and gold tiers are no longer divided into Common and Rare, and packs are now named by size, from Mini to Giant, so older trading advice built on those labels may no longer fit.

Balances rose quickly

EA’s developer update of 1 October put coin balances more than 50% above the level at the same point a year before. How that feeds into the price of FC 27 coins is anyone’s guess. Making a purchase count

Work out what you are buying for before you pick an amount. Coins pay for players bought outright on the Transfer Market and for the cards you hand in to squad challenges. Handing a card in to an SBC is permanent, and Streamlined SBCs take duplicates and part-submissions, so cards already in your club can be used up first and the purchase kept smaller.

Untradeable items are a different matter: EA marks them so they never appear on the market, and no coin order will get you one. Check that the players on your list are tradeable before you buy.

One order or several?

Buying everything in a single order means one delivery, one set of codes and one conversation in the order chat. Splitting a purchase across several days is possible too, but each order needs fresh backup codes and a Comfort Trade of its own, so one well-sized order is usually the simpler route.
